St. Meows was founded in 2000 by a Boston Globe reporter after her friend died of a brain aneurysm at her shelter that housed some 58 cats that were under threat of euthanasia. After taking a long hiatus to raise her daughter, St. Meows, dubbed the "Marines of Animal Rescue" by Harvard's The Crimson, is back doing what they were well known throughout greater Boston for doing - rescuing cats dumped on the streets like they were trash.
