Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue - Broomfield Pet Shelter

Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue is a group of hardworking fosters and volunteers who work to save the lives of unwanted dogs and puppies around the Colorado area. We focus on the younger animals that, when dumped in a shelter, are often exposed to disease and experience lack of socialization, killing their chances at becoming balanced adult dogs. RMPR has successfully rescued and re-homed over 6,000 animals and we are still going strong!

Adoption Process

1. Familiarize yourself with our available dogs - View all of our available dogs and puppies here. Select 3 that you are interested in. You will mark this information on the adoption application in step 2. 2. Fill out an adoption application - You may apply online or you may download the application, fill it out and bring it to an adoption event. There will also be applications at the events that you can fill out in person. Submitting an application online is no guarantee of your approval and we cannot hold dogs. 3. Collect supplementary adoption paperwork -Along with an application, you will need to bring a proof of residency (mortgage statement, house tax document). If you are renting, you will need to bring a lease agreement stating you are allowed to own an animal and we must see the breed and weight restrictions. 4. Find an adoption event to attend. At the Adoption Event: 1. Sign in at RMPR front table - The event is predominately first-come, first-serve, so get there early. If you do not have your paperwork (listed above), you will go to the back of the line until you can get your paperwork in order. Be prepared to spend around 3 hours of fun at the event. 2A. Interview - We take groups of 6 to 10 for steps 2A and 2B. One of our volunteers will take your application and ask you some quick questions. You will be allowed to visit with 3 pups separately. 2B. Meet the Dogs and Puppies - You will be taken to meet the dogs and puppies. You can meet with 3 different dogs/puppies until you can identify your top pick. If you are unsure we will move you to the next group due to timing. We do not hold dogs. 3. Complete the Adoption & Take Your New Family Member Home - After a selection is made, you will be taken back to the payment station. You will be given paperwork on your new family member, and a bag of their current food so you can taper to a new food if you choose. Finally, you will go back to the visiting area and claim your animal after producing a stamped receipt.
