Established in 1978, the RMSTC is a regional Scottish Terrier breed club. As the name implies, most of our members are located in the Denver metropolitan and Colorado Front Range area. However, we also count as members those residing in adjacent states and foreign countries. The RMSTC offers its members fellowship and activities centered on a common interest, the appreciation and devotion to the Scottish Terrier breed. Our commitment also includes the rescue and re-homing of needy Scotties.
All applicants must be at least 21 years of age. RMSTC Scottie Rescue prefers to place rescue Scotties within the state of Colorado. However, we have placed Scotties in terrific Fur-Ever homes in surrounding states. Applicants must be able to travel to the Denver area to meet and/or adopt a rescue Scottie. The RMSTC does not utilize commercial carriers of any kind to transport adoptable Scotties to their new homes. All applicants must first read our ADOPTION TERMS & CONDITIONS then complete the online ADOPTION APPLICATION & CONTRACT. - - - OR - - - Applicants may download a printable PDF version of our application, fill it out, then mail it to us. An RMSTC Scottie Rescue volunteer will conduct a phone interview after receiving an application. An initial “meet and greet” visit and a placement home-site visit are conducted particularly if there are existing companion animals already in the home. Although our current average cost to rescue, foster, and re-home a Scottie is over $650, our requested adoption fees average between $250 and $350. The fee helps defray the veterinary and care costs associated with preparing the Scottie to join its new Fur-ever Home. Our goal is to place each dog in the best home possible, based on his/her needs, personality and past history. Adoptions are NOT done on a first come, first served basis. Submitting an application does not guarantee the adoption of any dog. We are looking for the best available home for each of our rescue dogs.
