The Richmond Animal League (RAL) is the area’s oldest non-profit “no-kill” organization committed to reducing the homeless pet population in the Richmond area. Founded in 1979, RAL provides temporary housing, medical treatment, sterilization, and quality care to over 1,700 companion animals each year until they are adopted into permanent and loving homes.
Step 1. Find a pet. Step 2. Complete an application and email it to adopt@ral.org. Step 3. A staff member will contact you to schedule an informal phone interview to go over the information we know about the pet, discuss the needs of the pet and if the pet will be a good fit. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption at our discretion. Step 4. Meet and Greet. Step 5. You're approved! We will now walk you through the adoption finalization process. You'll sign an adoption contract and pay your adoption fee to officially transfer ownership to your family. We will arrange a time to safely transfer the pet from foster to adopter.
