The "Proud Animal Lovers Shelter" aka (PALS) is a no-kill, state-licensed,501(C)(3) non-profit organization supported by donations and any grants we are fortunate enough to receive. We are very grateful for these. We operate with only one full-time paid Shelter Manager, two part-time paid employees, and many wonderful folks who volunteer their time. We couldn't continue to shelter and care for the animals waiting for adoption without them.
We are currently open only by appointment. We require that all potential adopters fill out an adoption application (email to request) and provide a vet reference. The adoption fee for dogs is $100. The adoption fee for cats is $65, but those that have been with us longer than 6 months are just $45. Dogs, if old enough, have all been tested for heartworm, spayed/neutered, current on shots, dewormed, microchipped, and on flea and heartworm preventatives. Cats have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed/neutered, current on shots, dewormed, and on flea treatment. Please note that most of our dogs do require a fenced yard, exceptions might be dogs who are appropriate for apartment living or farm/large acreage settings. We will NOT adopt an animal that will kept on a chain. We can place an animal on HOLD for 24 hours. We would advise anyone traveling any distance to call before coming to be sure the animal is still at the shelter.
