Pet Adoption And Wellness Services (paws) - Woodland Pet Shelter

Pet Adoption and Wellness Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, from shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, and trainers, we are able to rescue animals, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully-screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Adoption Process

We required those interested in adopting a dog or cat to fill out our online Pet Adoption Application. Our Board of Directors will review your application and get back to you as soon as possible. If your application is approved, we will arrange a meeting with you and the adoptable pet. If the pet appears to be a good fit for your family, we may visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for that particular pet. We also require a $200 adoption fee for most dogs (chis and pits $75, Senior < 8 yo $50) and $65 for cats/kittens ($100 for exotics), along with a signed contract indicating that you will properly care for the adopted pet and return him/her to us if it doesn't work out for any reason.

I have been rescuing Bouvier purebreds, Bouvier crosses, and "Bouvier Pretenders" aka "Bouvier Faux" (dogs who look like Bouviers but aren't) since 1987. I also occasionally rescue a dog who turns out to be a Giant Schnauzer or some other breed that gets confused with Bouvier. And once in a while I succumb to temptation to take a dog not remotely a Bouv because there is so
