New Love Animal Rescue - Herndon Pet Shelter

New Love Animal Rescue

We are dedicated to finding homes for animals in need. Our primary focus is on dogs from high-kill shelters, those that have been abandoned, and those given up by owners who can no longer care for them. We do not discriminate by age, breed, or ease of placement - we will do our very best for every dog we bring into the rescue. By working with committed volunteers, foster families, local veterinarians, and trainers, we provide love, attention, time for healing, and medical support, all while carefully screening for new forever homes. New Love remains committed to our adopters and our placed dogs long after the adoption process is completed. Just as important is our aim to educate and support our community by providing information on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay and neuter, guidance on positive reinforcement training (following the Humane Hierarchy of Dog Training), the value of good nutrition, and much more.

Adoption Process

1. If you are interested in learning more about one of our rescue animals, please complete our online adoption application - this first step provides us with the necessary information for processing, however it does NOT commit you to anything. 2. Once you have submitted an application, an Adoption Coordinator will contact you. Please remember that we are a volunteer based organization and we will do our best to contact you as soon as possible. 3. The Adoption Coordinator will reach out to you for an adoption "interview". This is just a phone conversation to discuss the dog you are interested in, your current lifestyle and living situation, and your family environment. If applicable, a Vet check and Landlord verification will be completed. At that time we will reach out to schedule your home visit. 4. Once the home visit has been completed, a meet/greet with the dog will be set at either the foster's house or an upcoming event. If you have current pets, we will also do an introduction between the current and potential new pet to assess compatibility.
