The Mesabi Humane Society is a chapter of the Minnesota State Humane Society and is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. We have been serving and caring for animals since 1978 and opened our current facility in 1986. We are a no-kill shelter and only use humane euthanasia when it is medically necessary. We: provide animal control services to most of St. Louis County, Minnesota; respond to hording situations, sometimes rescuing as many as 76 animals; shelter as many as 605 animals/year; deworm, spay, neuter, vaccinate, and deliver other veterinary medical care for abandoned and surrendered cats and dogs in our care and offer community education to children and adults.
