The Pittsylvania Pet Center is committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of all companion animals by working with Animal Control Officers in the enforcement of state and local laws, reducing the number of stray and homeless animals, and providing the best care possible for every animal that comes through our doors. We will shelter and care for homeless, abandoned, and lost animals, work to keep and place animals in safe, loving homes, and provide education and resources to pet owners to enhance their lives and the lives of their companion animals.
The Pittsylvania Pet Center screens all potential adopters to ensure that the animal will have a safe and loving home. Those who are interested in adopting an animal from the Pet Center can fill out Dog Adoption Profile or Cat Adoption Profile before visiting. Below are some general requirements for adopting a Pet from the Pittsylvania Pet Center: Must have a valid photo ID; If you live at an address that isn’t on your ID, you must provide proof of residence (such as an electric bill) at your current address; Home checks may be conducted; Very few of our animals require a fenced in back yard, but for some, we do require it; Vet reference; No declawing cats; If the adopter has another dog, it is mandatory that we do a meet and greet at the Pet Center. This ensures that everyone in the household will get along.
