Lucky Dog Rescue - Scottsdale Pet Shelter

Lucky Dog Rescue

Lucky Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. Lucky Dog does not have its own facility. Instead, our dogs stay with temporary fosters and boarding partners while they wait to find their forever home. What makes us very different from other rescues is that we are dedicated to training and what happens after the dog is in his new home. We offer basic obedience raining classes to all our adopters. All our dogs are completely vetted, all dogs are altered, fully vaccinated, micro chipped, registered with county and in most cases we even run a blood test to make sure we are not missing anything. You can be confident you are adopting a healthy, well adjusted dog from Lucky Dog Rescue.

Adoption Process

The adoption process begins by completing our online application, found at the bottom of the Biography section on each dogs profile page. On the application, you can specifiy which dog(s) you are interested in adopting. Once the application is approved, you will be contacted by one of our volunteers and/or fosters. The foster or volunteer will share their experiences, and help you get to know the dog. We will arrange a Meet & Greet, where all members of the family will meet the dog. A home visit may also be done prior to acquiring the dog. After the Application, Home Visit and Meet & Greet are completed, it all parties are still in agreement, we will proceed with the adoption. Our minimum age for adoption is 25 year of age.

  • I really shouldn't be writing this now as I am very emotional, but this place has really put us through the wringer. Had we known that we would be competing for adoption with the foster mother, we would never have fallen in love with the dog and hoped with all our hearts for her joining our home. We worked very hard to get our home ready and were anxiously awaiting ~ nothing. No phone call, no text, no email letting us know that the foster mom had decided to keep her. We found out about the loss of this opportunity by checking the website and finally emailing the director, who sheepishly wrote that the foster mom "loved her too much" to let the dog go. The courtesy of notification would have been most welcomed! As it is, we've been really put off on the thought of trying with another rescue organization. So if heartbreak and disappointment is on your agenda, then this is the place for you.
