Kindness For Cats Inc! - Orlando Pet Shelter

Kindness For Cats Inc!

Kindness For Cats, Inc. is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Cindy Patton, foster parent and volunteer, in 2008. KFCI's mission is to provide temporary, nurturing homes for homeless kittens and cats and to find them loving forever homes. We work closely with Orange County Animal Services (OCAS), volunteering in their foster program; the majority of the kittens and cats in our care are foster animals in the OCAS program. The high number of euthanizations, deaths from illness or injury and comparatively low number of adoptions through the OCAS facility prompted the forming of this nonprofit in the hopes of increasing visibility for the kittens and cats available for adoption. It is also our mission to educate the public regarding abandoned pet overpopulation and to promote spaying and neutering to help fight the battle against unwanted felines. Related to this is to increase awareness of the tragedies that occur at local animal shelters, specifically the high rate of euthanizations and of death due to illnesses contracted while at the shelter. Due to the above, we strongly encourage individuals to seek other means when faced with giving up their pet, or when finding a stray or abandoned pet.

Adoption Process

Cats and kittens in foster care with the Kindness for Cats volunteers are all current fosters from Orange County Animal Services located in Orlando, FL. You will be communicating with a foster parent regarding any available pet listed on this site and the adoption will be completed through the OCAS shelter office. If you find an animal you are interested in, you must interact with her/him before you can adopt the kitty to make sure they're a good match for you and/or your family. Our main goal at Kindness is the make sure as many cats and kittens as possible are saved from euthanasia and find a FOREVER home. Meeting your potential pet in their foster environment is usually the best option- they will be more comfortable at home and therefore more themselves. However, meeting and interacting at the shelter is always an option if it’s more convenient for you or the foster parent. Please email the foster parent listed in the cat or kitten’s description for the quickest response. She will discuss meet and greet options and answer any questions you might have. After interacting with your potential new family member, you will need to complete the adoption by filling out an application in person at the shelter as they require your digital signature. You will also need a valid ID (e.g., driver's license) and cash, check or credit card for the adoption fee.
