Adoption Process

At Intermountain Humane Society our goal is to find the right, "forever" home for the dogs and cats that come under our care. We do our best to make sure that the pet being considered for adoption meets the needs of the adopter, and vice-versa. We process applications in the order that they are received. If you are interested in adopting a pet from us you must complete an application form that asks several questions about you and what you're looking for in an animal companion. In order to make the best match of people and pets, we need to know about your home, family (including other pets), and lifestyle. We request references to verify your history as a pet owner. We ask that all members of a family interested in a pet come in and meet the animal before the adoption can be approved and finalized. Particularly, for dog adoptions, any dogs currently living with the potential adopter must be brought to the shelter to assess how the dogs will respond to each other. Animals may be met at the shelter in Pine Junction (near the intersection of U.S. Highway 285 and Mt. Evans Blvd/Route 126). The shelter is in the back of the "Log Building", just west of the Cruz-In Diner and Golden Pine Restaurant.
