The Humane Society of Ocean City is a private, non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization located in Ocean City, New Jersey. HSOC operates a “No-Kill” Adoption Center and Veterinary Center, offering affordable veterinary services and spay/neuter clinics.Since 1964, HSOC has proudly served Ocean City and surrounding communities. Our Adoption Center has rescued and cared for many stray and abandoned pets. HSOC strives to place its homeless residents into loving forever homes. For unwanted pets, HSOC provides them a safe, clean, and happy home for the rest of their precious lives.In September 2002, HSOC opened the Woody Johnson Medical Educational Building which houses our Veterinary Center with fully licensed, experienced veterinarians. You are welcome to bring your pets for affordable veterinary services or apply for spay or neuter appointments. The Veterinary Center has state-of-the-art medical equipment that allows our staff to provide a full range of care for your pet.The HSOC also offers Animal Control Services for the City of Ocean City. We have four full time, state certified Animal Controls Officer, two of whom are certified as Cruelty Investigators.There are many ways you can help us fulfill our mission in the community and care for our animal residents. Our Adoption Hours are every day 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Shelter is closed on all major holidays. To adopt from the HSOC, you will need one form of identification, which includes your name, permanent address and proof of ownership (i.e., local tax stub). If you rent, written approval from your landlord is required as well as personal identification. As an added benefit, your new pet will receive a 10% lifetime discount (Alumni Card) for veterinary services at our clinic The adoption fee is $50.00 for cats or kittens and $85 for dogs, adults and puppies. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards. Checks are accepted upon management’s approval. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, free first vet exam, and all necessary vaccinations through the first year. Adoption applications are available at the shelter.
