Home Stretch Animal Rescue (HSAR) is a small, non-profit, 501©(3) charity, allvolunteer rescue organization dedicated to providing rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for companion animals. Founded in October 2005, HSAR operates entirely through uncompensated volunteer time. All money received in donations and adoption fees goes to pay for medical services or supplies for the companion animals being cared for by the organization. HSAR and its volunteers provide the following services in the Northern Virginia area: trapping and medical care for stray companion animals, foster care (providing daily care and medical) and socialization for rescued animals.
HSAR works with its volunteers to find the right homes for the animals in its care. It requires an application, an interview, and a home check in the hopes of ensuring that the adoptions from HSAR will be the last adoption for the animal. If the adopting family runs into any difficulty, HSAR happily takes the animal back. The adoption fee is $100 for cats ($150) for two cats.
