Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue is an all volunteer German Shepherd rescue group based in Montgomery, AL. We provide needed medical care, training and rehabilitation to needy GSDs until they are ready for adoption. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and heartworm free by the time they are re-homed.
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out the application. Please fill it out completely. Soon after we receive your complete application one of our volunteers will contact your references (including vet reference). After the references are checked, we will schedule a home visit with you. Once approved, we'll schedule a time for you to meet the dogs. We do not have a kennel or a central location, rather the dogs are fostered in individual homes of our volunteers. If it seems like a rigorous application/approval process, try to keep in mind that these are rescued dogs. Most of them came to our rescue because they were neglected and discarded by past owners. Our rescue has made significant investment of time, money, and love to help these beloved dogs get back to health and trust. We want to know they are getting the home they deserve. We also want to be sure adopters are getting a dog that will fit in their home. The adoption fee does not cover the cost of the medical expenses so we depend on donations and fundraising.
