Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, you must first complete an Adoption Application. We charge a non-refundable fee of $25.00 for all adoption applications. When you click “SUBMIT” you will be prompted to pay the application fee through PayPal (it will be dropped in your cart). If you do not have a PayPal account, please contact GRRSWF's Adoption Team at [email protected]. You will be contacted to take your credit card payment. Your application cannot be processed without confirmation of payment. We will then conduct a telephone interview with you followed by a home visit with a GRRSWF volunteer. During the home visit you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We will discuss with you exactly what you are looking for in a dog, and what you have to offer to a dog. Please understand that we typically have a significant waiting list and a dog you are interested in may have already been selected for another family. We recommend that you have some flexibility in the dog you want. It will likely mean we can place a dog with you sooner. We do our best to match a dog whose needs and characteristics are compatible with you, your family and your lifestyle. If there are none available that you would like to meet, then we will keep your application on file and notify you as soon as one comes into the rescue. When the dog comes to you, he will have been to a vet for a full examination, heartworm and intestinal worm checks, and, health permitting, brought current on all his vaccinations, micro chipped and neutered/spayed, if necessary. His foster home will have put him in a variety of situations to evaluate his responses and will provide you with detailed information on everything they’ve learned about him during his time in their home. Bear in mind however in some cases we know little or nothing of the dog’s history prior to coming into the rescue. The foster home will stay in contact with you for the first couple of days following the adoption in order to help ensure his transition is as easy as possible for everyone. GRRSWF will always remain available to you and will happily answer any questions or offer any assistance we can. Many of our dogs may already have had several homes. Our goal is to ensure that the adoptive home will be the dog's last. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find the love of your life!
