1. Apply. We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an application to adopt, foster or volunteer. 2. Review. After reviewing your application, you will receive an email with information about the next step. 3. Veterinarian or Personal Reference Check. We will contact your veterinarian to verify the information you shared with us. Please call your vets office and give them permission to release information concerning your pets record. If you have never owned a pet in your own name as an adult, we will contact your personal references. 4. Personal Interview. A Compact Canine Rescue volunteer will contact you to discuss your families interest in adding a dog to your family. All adults living in the home full time must be present for the interview. 5. Home Visit. Once your application review is complete, a Compact Canine Rescue volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit to meet in person and discuss all-things pet. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards for the dog that the adopter may not have considered. All household members must be present during the home visit. This includes all pets. 6. Finding Your Pet. Once approved to adopt, the search for your dog begins. New dogs come into our care on a regular basis. Keep watching the available dogs on the website and when you see one you are interested in, contact the foster family. Introductions will be scheduled when both parties are in agreement the dog may be the right fit for your family.
