CISAR is a no kill shelter and low-cost vet clinic supported by local businesses and people like you. We have been NO KILL for OVER 16 years! 501(c)(3) Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue (CISAR) at Colfax Illinois is in urgent immediate need of funds. The 18 year old No-Kill shelter currently houses 48 dogs and 52 cats, and has low cost vet clinic for the community, helping those in need to keep their pets healthy and home. CISAR dogs take mobile adoption bus twice a week for classes with an Illinois State University dog behaviorist specialist. CISAR also works with the University of Illinois Spay-Neuter mobile unit, which visits the shelter twice a month. CISAR saves animals from Chicago Animal Control, Anti-cruelty Society, and kill facilities from all over the country, including natural disasters. A vital animal shelter in central Illinois, CISAR’s life-saving impact is local and far reaching for animals in need of good care and good homes.

Adoption Process

1. Fill out our easy PET Contract and Animal Adoption Application. These are also available at CISAR or our Mobile Adoption Center. 2. $185 for 1-4 years, $160 for 5-7 yrs, $110 for 8 and up, Up to $300.00 for puppies. This includes spay/neuter, all shots, micro-chipping, heart worm test (all animals are currently on heart worm preventative) and a flea and tick preventative has been applied to all animals. 3. $105.00 tax deductible donation for kittens. $60.00 tax deductible donation for cats. This includes spay/neuter, all shots, micro-chipping, heart worm test (all animals are currently on heart-worm preventative) and Revolution flea and tick preventative has been applied to all animals and also includes feline leukemia testing. 4. If for any reason you feel you are not able to keep your new pet, you agree in the contract to return them to CISAR. If within 5 days of adoption the new owners need to return them for any reason, they bring them back to CISAR and receive one-half of the adoption fee back. If returned after 5 days, the adoption fee will not be returned but the pet must still be returned to CISAR.
