Bethel Friends Of Canines - Bethel Pet Shelter

Bethel Friends Of Canines

Bethel Friends of Canines is a volunteer run organization that works in conjunction with the local animal care officers to find permanent homes for abandoned or neglected dogs and puppies in our community. Our mission as a service organization is to increase the canine well being through education, advocacy, and a network of foster and adoptive homes. While we are based in Bethel, we are working with local communities to better the canine wellbeing all over our state!

Adoption Process

Once you see a dog/cat you are interested in adopting, please follow these steps: Fill out an adoption application and email it in; Set up a meet and greet for the animal you are interested in; Set up a home visit for the animal you are interested in and a BFK9 volunteer; Once your adoption is approved, finish the rest of the adoption paperwork, pay the adoption fee, and welcome your new family member home! BFK9 tries to match our rescues with potential adopters that are well-suited for the needs of the animal. We do not adopt out on a first come first serve basis, we want the best possible homes for our rescues. We will only adopt to adults 21 years of age or older who have appropriate housing for the breed, size, and care requirements, and have time to spend with the dog/cat on a regular basis. They must agree to abide by all landlord rules including number, breed, and size of pets permitted. BFK9 reserves the right to visit the adoptive home before or after placement of the animal. All adopters must complete an adoption application and required paperwork. BFK9 reserves the right to deny an adoption if the match does not seem appropriate. Our adoption fee is $250. This covers spay/neuter and immunizations. We strongly encourage all perspective adopters to do their homework, research dog breeds to find the one that will best fit their lifestyle, honestly assess the time they have to raise a puppy and take into consideration other animals in the home.
