A Wish For Animals - Dana Point Pet Shelter

A Wish For Animals

A Wish for Animals is a non-profit organization that has a BIG heart for animals. We rescue animals that are in need or in danger. While we primarily rescue dogs and cats, we are always willing to try and help whenever there is an animal in need. We also provide medical assistance funds, food, vaccinations and spay and neutering to low income families or families that can not afford large medical bills for their pets. A Wish for Animals has been rescuing animals for the past 10 years and is solely staffed by volunteers with the majority working in full-time jobs. All funding is directed to the animals for spay/neutering and other veterinary costs, vaccines, microchipping, medications, transportation, boarding, training, food, and other expenses until we are able to place them in a forever home. Our adoption??fees are not sufficient??to meet these expenses so additional fundraising activities also take place. Our mission is to help save as many animals as possible from suffering or death and to find them wonderful homes to spend the rest of their lives in. It???s so amazing to see where these animals came from and where they end up in their new homes with so much love. They are so grateful to have what so many of us take for granted every day! A Wish for Animals Our goal is to find the RIGHT home for our animals. Factors taken into account are the family's lifestyle, does it match the needs of the animal, awareness of the cost of veterinarian care for life and the ability to provide instruction, house manners and obedience. A Wish For Animals is staffed by loving and caring volunteers who give up countless hours of free time to provide for the needs of our animals and assist families to successfully bond with their newly adoptive companion. When contacting us, please allow a couple of days for a volunteer to return any calls for assistance or adoption. A Wish for Animals is run 100% on donations and depends on them to continue in our mission. Thank you for helping us in our mission to save these wonderful lives.

Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting any of our pets, you are asked to complete a form that tells us about you and your background with animals. A completed application and an adoption contract is signed, allowing the transfer of the pet to you. A $300 adoption fee for young or adult pets over 6 months and $350 for puppies under 6 months is paid to A Wish For Animals. Our adoption fees covers the cost of care, all shots, spay/neuter, microchip and de-worming. Our contract states that if for any reason you are unable to keep the dog after you have adopted it, the dog MUST be returned to A Wish For Animals and not taken to any animal shelter, friends or family. We recommend you bring your children to visit with the pets you are interested in. You may also bring your family dog since you are looking for a new dog. We do not recommend cat-dog visits.

The purpose and mission of HHCS is three fold: First, we want to provide a safe permanent haven for cats with uncurable, chronic or terminal illness, old age, and/or personality problems. However, despite taking in these special needs cats, we do believe in quality of life, rather than
