The East Greenwich Animal Protection League (EGAPL) was formed in 1980 by founding members Dorothy Trehy, Marion Fry and Mary Clark. The Town of East Greenwich did not have a municipal pound and all stray cats were in danger of euthanasia. When these women started EGAPL as an all-volunteer rescue, the League was funded entirely by donations to save the unwanted cats and dogs picked up by East Gree
